Norham Ride-Out

Monday 7th August

Norham Ride-Out, the first Ride-Out of the week, is a fast paced ride, with some fantasic scenery as we make our way on the Scottish side of the River Tweed from Coldstream to Norham with its historic Castle. The Ride-Out crosses Norham bridge entering England for the first of two visits south of the Border during Civic Week. Resfreshments and a bite to eat are available by silver collection, kindly put on by Norham WI. The Coldstreamer dances a reel and a raffle is held. The Thompson Family Shield is presented to the youngest rider to Norham. The Ride-Out returns to Coldstream via the English side of the river.

Start Time: 16.00 (to be mounted by 15.50)

Judging for the best turned out horse and rider will take place next to the Marshals’ vehicles in the Lees at 15.30.

Start Location: The Lees, Coldstream

Outward route:
Coldstream High Street, Coldstream Mains, Milne Graden, Norham.

Arrive Norham: 18.00
Depart Norham: 19.00

The Thompson Family Shield will be presented at Norham to the youngest rider at Norham.

Return route: Tillmouth, Melkington, Crammondhill, Cornhill, Coldstream.

Arrive Coldstream: 21.00

All timings other than the mounting up time are approximate, and due to circumstances on the day may alter.

Please remember – Hard hats must be worn on all Coldstream Civic Week rideouts

All participants in equestrian events are reminded that they should ensure that they have appropriate and adequate insurance cover for personal injury and third party liability. Both rider and mount should be fit and competent and appropriate clothing should be worn. Any rider deemed to be intoxicated whilst riding will be removed from the ride-out.

Riders and spectators are to follow the instructions given by our Marshals and Stewards. Both riders and spectators should respect all signage/guidance put in place from Coldstream Riders’ Association with regards to land owners requests. Spectators are also respectfully reminded that they are not to drive/park in farmers’ fields and when on foot to be mindful of crops.
